Obituary of Georgia Pappas

Georgia Dimitropoulos Pappas Mrs. Georgia Pappas, 93, of Charlotte, NC, a faithful woman, devoted wife and loving Mother, died October 23, 2010 surrounded by her family. Mrs. Pappas was born in Stefani, Evrytania, Greece on April 16, 1917. She and her husband left Greece in 1968 and moved to Charlotte where they became dedicated members of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral. She also served as a member of Daughters of Evrytania and Adelphotis Fidakion. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gus A. Pappas, parents Serafim and Vasiliki Dimitropoulos, brothers Dionysios Dimitropoulos, Konstantinos Dimitropoulos, Georgios Dimitropoulos and Nikolaos Dimitropoulos,, step sister, Theodora and great granddaughter Elena Pistiolis. Mrs. Pappas was a kind person, very hospitable, and devoted to the church. She enjoyed spending time around her children, cooking, and tending to her garden. She was well-loved by all and her memory will be eternal. Survivors include five sons and two daughters, Arthur Pappas, wife Chris; Jimmy Pappas, wife Maria; Maria Pistiolis, husband Serafim; Angelo Pappas, wife Fotini; Serafim Pappas, wife Voula; Theo Pappas, wife Mary; Demetra Georgoulias, husband Steve; 20 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. A Trisagion will be held at 7:00 PM on Sunday, October 24, 2010, at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral. The funeral will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 25, 2010, at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral with the Reverend Michael Varvarelis, Reverend Philemon Patitsas, Reverend Tommy Vlahos and Reverend George Vlahos officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
