Obituary of Kenneth Fairleigh

Mr. Fairleigh, 81, of Charlotte, NC died Wednesday, November 10, 2010 following a courageous battle with Alzheimer?s. He was born June 15, 1929 in Tennille, Georgia, son of the late George and Lena Moore Fairleigh. He graduated from Garden City High School in New York and attended Columbia University. Mr. Fairleigh spent many years working for Car and Driver Magazine and is remembered by many friends in the car racing world. He was also a life-long sports fan with a particular love for baseball and college basketball. In addition to his beloved wife, Louise Robertson Fairleigh, Mr. Fairleigh is survived by three sons, Ken Fairleigh Jr. and his wife, Jackie of Chicago, IL, Paul Fairleigh of Saudi Arabia, and David Fairleigh and his wife, Elizabeth of Atlanta, GA; two grandsons, Kenny and Phil Fairleigh; granddaughter, Lauren Fairleigh; two sisters, Penny Sparacino of Durham, NC and Kitty Allen of Waynesville, NC; and a life-long friend, Lee Bellinger of Charlotte. With enormous love and gratitude the family would like to thank Stash Query for all he did for Mr. Fairleigh. His face would light up with a smile when ever Stash came to see him. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon November 14, 2010, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service. . Memorials may be made to the Charity of the Donor?s Choice
