Obituary of Michael Moody

Michael H. Moody Mr. Moody, 55, a native Charlottean was granted his angel wings on November 11, 2010. His final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that meant so much to him throughout his short, yet very memorable life. Michael's life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by him understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. His gentle smile and quick sense of humor brought so much joy to his family and friends. Michael gave us all such courage and hope and reminded us of the preciousness of life. His greatest loves were his family and his mountain retreat where he would rock on the porch while gazing over the heavenly mountains in Saluda, NC. This mountain property was built in the 1890s by the family and he lovingly restored it to become one of his legacies. Over the years Mike enjoyed hiking, camping, fishing, swimming, photography and dramatic arts. He met his wife Paige in the Drama Program while attending East Mecklenburg in 1972. Michael went on to graduate and receive his Master's Degree in Industrial Psychology at UNC at Charlotte. Thru the years, Mike displayed his diverse and multi-talented skills while operating his own photography and advertising business. He was committed to his career in corporate leadership development and held various positions with Duke Energy, Bank of America and Training Folks. He was widely published in his field. Michael enjoyed all kinds of travel, music, film and writing and had eclectic tastes for gourmet cooking. His greatest pride and achievements were those closest to his heart, his family. Michael was a wonderful and loving husband, father and brother. He also had a special place in his heart for his dog Lucy and his cat Clifford. Michael is survived by his loving wife, Paige; son, Michael Scott; daughter, Allison; brother, Glen B. Moody and mother-in-law, Patty B. Kirby. A visitation will be held at Hankins & Whittington, Sunday, November 14, 2010, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM. Following the visitation the family and friends are invited to the home of Tom and Cinda Smith In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of the donor?s choice.
