Obituary of Eleni Vastis

Eleni Diamadouros Vastis Mrs. Vastis, 95, of Charlotte died peacefully November 13, 2010 at White Oak Manor with her family by her side. Mrs. Vastis was born June 21, 1915, in Karyae, Greece. She arrived in the United States in 1960 and worked with her son in the restaurant business for 20 years until retirement. She was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral and her passions included gardening, cooking and spending time with her family. She is survived by her three children, Sam Vastis and his wife Matoula, Dina Vastis Mahairas and her husband Pete, and Perry Vastis and his wife Niki, her nine grandchildren, her nine great grandchildren, her sister-in-law Christina Diamadouros, and her many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 62 years John Vastis, her sister Panagiota Couchell and her husband Perry, her brother George Diamadouros and his wife Georgia, and her brother Panos Diamadouros. A Trisagion with be held at 7:00 PM on Monday, November 15, 2010 and funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Mrs. Vastis? family expresses sincere gratitude to the staff at White Oak Manor for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral Foundation Fund, 600 East Blvd, Charlotte, NC 28203.
