Obituary of Naidene Murphy

Naidene Mathis Murphy Mrs. Murphy, 83, of Charlotte, NC, died December 6, 2010 at her residence. She was born on September 24, 1927 in Cincinnati, OH, daughter of the late Dalton Lee and Ada Leoda Tummins Mathis. Mrs. Murphy moved to Charleston, TN where she attended Charleston High School. It was here she met and married her husband of sixty one years, the late James W. Murphy. They moved to Elizabethton, TN and lived there until 1962 when they moved to Charlotte, NC. Mrs. Murphy worked for Grant?s on Freedom Drive and then went to work at the Federal Reserve. She was a homemaker, a loving wife and mother and was very influential in the family finding Christ as their savior. She is survived by her children, Sandra McMichen, Nannette Benvegnu and her husband, Joe, Rita Montgomery and her husband, Ron and Gale Murphy and his wife, Marietta; grandchildren, Zachary Murphy, Jacob Murphy, Jacqueline Murphy, Dana Murphy, Gabe Murphy, Pete McMichen and his wife, Lauri, Julie Montgomery and Tripp, and Leslie Haas and her husband, Chris; great-grandchildren, David Smith and his wife, Stephanie, Kelli Propst and her husband, Ryan, Millicent Haas, and Bennett Haas; and one great-great-grandchild, Triston Propst; and her beloved dog, Megan. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, December 11, 2010 at Unity Baptist Church, 1005 East Catawba Street, Belmont, NC, 28012. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Billy Graham Library, 4330 Westmont Drive, Charlotte, NC 28217.
