Obituary of Winifred Breen

Winifred Etters Breen Mrs. Breen, 94, passed away into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Sunday, December 12, 2010, at Sardis oaks in Charlotte, NC. A native of Charlotte, Winifred was born August 12, 1916. She was the youngest of four children born to the late William Robert and Lillie Elizabeth Etters. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, well known Charlotte musician Clarence Etters; sisters, Lillie Logan and Lorene Keziah and her beloved daughter, Mary Christenbury on July 5, 2010. Winifred was a loving caregiver to her family, especially her husband, photographer, Kenneth Breen until his death in 1961 from M.S. and her daughter, Mary Elaine. They always came first. Survivors include her son-in-law, Joe Christenbury, grandchildren, Jeff and Amy Christenbury, Julie and Daryl Smith; great-grandchildren, Hayes, Grace and Grier Christenbury and Walker and Mary Claire Smith. Winifred was a kind and gentle lady and a joy to both family and friends. She was a member of Providence Baptist Church and enjoyed the visits from Providence Ladies, when she was no longer able to attend services. Graveside services for Mrs. Breen will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday, December 15, 2010 in Forest Lawn West Cemetery with the Reverend Dr. Al Cadenhead officiating.
