Obituary of Linda Hartley

LINDA ANNE WEAVER HARTLEY Linda Anne Weaver Hartley, 53, died December 21, 2010 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC with her loving family at her side. Linda was born in Charlotte on January 13, 1957 to Marjorie Brown Weaver Smith and the late, Clyde Leon Weaver. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her step father William Paul Smith, Jr. Linda was a lifelong resident of Charlotte, North Carolina. She graduated from West Mecklenburg High School in 1975. After graduating from high school, she worked with a medical laboratory as a Lab Technician. Later, she joined A T & T where she served for 27 years. During her tenure there, she worked her way to become Operations Manager of the Network Disaster Recovery Team. She and her team were instrumental in restoring telecommunications to the affected area of New York City after the 9-11 Disaster. She was awarded many professional accolades for her outstanding performance. After leaving AT&T, Linda became the owner of Wilmont Flowers & Gifts, where she quickly endeared herself to her customers with her desire and passion to please each and everyone. Linda was a lifelong member of Steele Creek Presbyterian Church and a member of the Steele Creek Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #339. Linda is survived by her partner in life, Tracy Snelbaker; her son, Cory Hartley and wife, Nicole; son, Bret Hartley; and grandson, Sevi Hartley. In addition, she is survived by her mother, Marjorie Brown Weaver Smith; a brother, Clyde Lee Weaver and wife, Trish; step-brother, Rev. W. Paul Smith III, of Hilliard, Florida; step-sisters, Ruth S. Fuller of Charlotte, and Julia S. Thomas of Weddington, N. C. She is also survived by nieces, Alayna and Katie and nephews, Luke, Andy, and Matthew Weaver. Her funeral service will be held at Steele Creek Presbyterian Church, 7407 Steele Creek Road, Charlotte, on Monday, December 27, 2010 at Noon with Dr. Jeff Pinkston and Reverend Valerie Phillips officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Linda?s family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Sunday, December 26, 2010 at Steele Creek Presbyterian Church. Pallbearers will be Harold Beaty, Bill Griffith, Kevin Hunt, David Moody, Ralph Neely, and Charlie Smith. Flowers will be welcomed by the family. Memorials can also be made to Steele Creek Presbyterian Church in her name, 7407 Steele Creek Road, Charlotte, NC 28217.
