Obituary of James Griffin

James Lewis Griffin Mr. Griffin, 91, of Charlotte, NC died Monday, December 27, 2010 at Presbyterian Hospital. He was born in Gastonia, NC on October 28, 1919, a son of the late Leroy and Lillie Horne Griffin. He was a US Army veteran and the founder and owner of A&A Brass and Aluminum Foundry and Carolina Foundry. Mr. Griffin was a long-time member and deacon of Southside Baptist Church. He was active with the Senior Games, loved antique cars and fishing. Mr. Griffin was preceded in death by his wife, Mary M. Griffin. He is survived his sons, Dick Griffin and his wife, Kathy, and Randy Griffin and his wife, Gail; four grandchildren, Preston Griffin, Wes Griffin and his wife, Christian, Kelly Frazier, and Chad Griffin and his wife, Misty; four great-grandchildren, Madison and Kennedy Griffin, and Neil and Alaina Griffin. Funeral services for Mr. Griffin will be 11:00 AM Thursday, December 30, 2010, at Southside Baptist Church with Reverend Steve Kelly officiating. Interment will follow in Gaston Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10:15 until 11:00 AM at the church on Thursday. Memorials may be sent to Southside Baptist Church, 301 Elmhurst Road, Charlotte, NC 28209.
