Obituary of Polly Lemond

Polly Hubbard Lemond Mrs. Lemond, 92, of Charlotte, NC died Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at the Levine & Dickson Hospice in Huntersville, NC. A Mecklenburg County native, Mrs. Lemond was born December 15, 1918, daughter of the late John Marshall Hubbard and Ida Katherine Dunlap Hubbard. Mrs. Lemond graduated from Huntersville High School and attended King?s Business College. She was the former office manager for Asplundh Tree Company and retired after 18 years from the Mecklenburg County Clerk of Superior Courts? office. Mrs. Lemond was a former member of Gilead ARP Church and Calvary United Methodist Church. She volunteered with the hot lunch program at Strong?s Apartments. Mrs. Lemond was admired by her family for her strength of will, self-assurance, determination and integrity. She was an inspiration to those who knew her. She was fiercely devoted to her family and had a great faith in God. She loved gardening time spent at Kure Beach. In addition to her husbands, Thomas S. Hood and David W. Lemond, Mrs. Lemond was preceded in death by four brothers, one sister. She is survived by a daughter, Joan Hood Garrison; grandson, John Roddy Finley Jr.; three step-sons, George, Phillip and David Lemond; step-daughter, Harriet Cosner, and six grandchildren. The family will receive friends at Hankins & Whittington Sunday afternoon, January 2, 2011 one hour prior to the funeral service in the chapel at 5:00 PM. Interment will be in Sardis Presbyterian Church Cemetery on Monday, January 3, 2011.
