Dorothy Mae Williams ?Dottie? Mrs. Williams, 80, of Charlotte went to be with the Lord and her beloved husband Al, Thursday, December 30, 2010 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC, with loved ones by her side. Dorothy was born August 11, 1930, in Brooklyn, MS daughter of the late Levi and Agnes Palmer Holder. Mrs. Williams worked for 37 years at Metrolina Builders, the company she helped establish with her late husband, Arnold (Al) Williams and son, John Williams. She often spoke fondly of being able to have three generations of family work together when her grandchildren Matt Williams and Sarah Williams McIntyre joined the business in 2000/2001. Dottie was a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She attended First Presbyterian Church in Charlotte and enjoyed crossword puzzles, gardening, fishing and cooking. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her brothers, Leslie and Sylvester Holder. Surviving are her daughter, Jeannie Massey of Topeka, KS; sons, Jim Crowell and wife, Regina of Riley, KS, Ken Crowell of Waxhaw, NC and John Williams and wife, Gloria, 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at Hankins and Whittington Funeral Service Monday evening January 3, 2011 from 6:30 to 8:00 PM. A graveside service celebrating the life of Mrs. Williams will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 4, 2011 in Sharon Memorial Park with the Reverend Anthony Thomas officiating.
