LaVerne Kobal

Obituary of LaVerne Kobal

LaVerne Constance Kobal, 74, of Charlotte, NC passed away peacefully on January 1, 2011 at Avante Nursing. LaVerne was born in McKees Rocks, PA on January 26, 1935 to John James and Veronica (Verne) Kaminski. LaVerne graduated from Sto-Rox High School in McKees Rocks, PA. LaVerne married Richard Robert Kobal from Allison Park, PA. Rich and LaVerne celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary just 2 years ago in 2008. LaVerne was a loving wife and mother, devoting her life to her family and children. LaVerne leaves behind her beloved family -- husband Richard of Indian Land, SC, brother Vernon Jay and sister-in-law Sandy of McKees Rocks, PA, daughter Debbie and son-in-law Richard Schon of York, PA, and son Richard and daughter-in-law Megan of Charlotte, NC. Grandma will be missed dearly by her five grandchildren -- Mathew, Abby, and Lauryn of York, PA and Noah & Grace of Charlotte, NC. LaVerne lived a life full of passion and energy. At a very early age, her family nicknamed her "Tootsie", which remained appropriate and used throughout her life by family members. Rich and LaVerne went from being a dual working couple in the first years of marriage to being blessed with two healthy children, whom she nurtured and raised. Investing her time as a stay at home mother, LaVerne still traveled extensively on a yearly basis with her husband. As mounting ailments gradually stripped her of physical abilities, her "bull-dog" spirit remained. All family members have wonderful remembrance of Grandma's favorite slogans. She spent her last holiday season close to family. Wonderful memories remain of Grandma being showered with Christmas carols, indulging in BBQ ribs, and excessive amounts of Christmas sweets. LaVerne worked hard and loved hard throughout her life. All who knew her were truly blessed. Her family will miss her.
