Obituary of Jackie Maybeck

Jackie Maybeck Jackie Maybeck left her earthly life on January 30, 2011 to join her relatives and friends waiting in heaven. She is survived by her husband, Jim; daughters, Holly Brantley and husband, Mark, Dawn Maybeck and partner, Nancy Norman, Heather Stephens and husband, RC, and son, Tom; her grandchildren, Summer, Sierra, Nicole, Taylor and Nolan; and her great-grandchildren, Brooke and Gianni; as well as her sister, Patti Crowell and husband, Andrew in Arizona; and her brother, John in Washington. Jackie was born in New York, in 1936 and spent her life on Long Island, where her first love was the beach and half of her life Charlotte/ Matthews. She was a Girl Scout leader, member of the Circle and Chair of the Alter Guild of St. Luke?s Lutheran Church, Captain of the Queen City Tennis Team, Assistant Coach of Girl?s Basketball at Sardis Presbyterian Church, an avid gardener and enthusiastic volunteer for any group or individual who needed help. Jackie started her life as a homemaker and later worked for the City of Charlotte as a map maker. Her second career was in real estate where she was a successful Realtor and eventually started her own company. Jackie spent a lifetime helping others. If you met her, you liked her, it was that simple. A holiday never passed that wasn?t special, simply by her touch and she always extended and invitation to someone who had no other family. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 5, 2011 in the chapel of Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service, 1111 East Blvd. Charlotte, NC 28203. A drop-in will follow from 1:00PM to 3:00PM at the Polo Club in Matthews. Gone but not forgotten, will never ring truer. In lieu of flowers, Jackie would be pleased with donations to the Epilepsy Foundation Support Group, 1912 Winthrop Ave., Charlotte, NC 28203.
