Obituary of Faye Caldwell

Faye Lawing Caldwell Mrs. Caldwell, 86, of Charlotte, died February 4, 2011 after a brief illness. She was born in Kendall Mill Village in Mecklenburg County on April 4, 1924, daughter of the late Charlie Mack and Carrie Blankenship Lawing. Mrs. Caldwell attended Paw Creek School until 1940, when she married her late husband, Frank W. Caldwell. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, dedicated to caring for her family and friends over her lifetime. Mrs. Caldwell was a talented seamstress who enjoyed sewing for her grandchildren, preparing large family meals and spending time with her family. She was a long time member of McGee Presbyterian Church which is now Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher and church volunteer. Survivors include 4 sons and their wives, Frank Jr. and Neala Caldwell of Rock Hill, SC, Tommy and Gloria Caldwell of Charlotte NC, Dan and Pam Caldwell of Marietta, GA, and Myron and Dorothy Caldwell of Concord, NC; 10 grandchildren, Danita Caldwell, Jennifer Williams, Carrie Aldridge, Andrew Caldwell, Amanda Caldwell Fisher, Chad Caldwell, Tyler Caldwell, Heather Moore, Shannon Caldwell, and Katie Caldwell; 6 great grandchildren, Madeline and Jacob Aldridge, Drake and Teagan Caldwell, Cassidy Williams, and Noah Caldwell; a brother, Carl Lawing of Charlotte; and a former daughter-in-law, Shirley Little. Mrs. Caldwell was preceded in death by her husband, Frank W. Caldwell; four sisters, Mae Lawing, Flo Thrower, Rose Van Pelt, and Catherine Lawing; and four brothers, Arnold, Clifford, Bud, and Gene Lawing. The family will receive friends and family on Monday afternoon from 1:30 PM until 2:45 PM at Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church, 6701 Pleasant Grove Road, Charlotte, with the funeral service to follow at 3:00 PM at the church. Interment in Forest Lawn West Cemetery, 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte will take place after the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in honor of Mrs. Caldwell be made to Levine & Dickson Hospice House of Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region, 11900 Vanstory Drive, Huntersville, NC 28078 or to other charities of your choice.
