Obituary of Miriam Geiger

Miriam Bordages Geiger Mrs. Geiger, 85, much beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother died April 28, 2011 at Sardis Oakes after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Maw Maw as all her family and friends knew her was born on April 19, 1926, daughter of the late Daniel and Lydia Zeller Bordages in New Orleans, LA. She was extremely proud of her New Orleans heritage. Miriam moved to Charlotte, NC, which became her home for the rest of her life. Mrs. Geiger was preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years Philip Geiger Jr. and her oldest son Philip Joseph Geiger and her only sibling, her younger sister Beverly. Surviving are her greatest pride and pleasure her children, Ann Richardson and husband, Robert, Barbara Haigler, Daniel Geiger and wife, Penny, Frederick Geiger, Clemmie Marrow and husband , David, Edwin Geiger, Gregory Geiger and wife, Harriet, and Helen Diggs and husband, Allen and 15 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. A special thanks to Dr. Darlyne Menscer and the staff at Sardis Oaks for the excellent care she received during the last months of her life. Funeral service for Mrs. Geiger will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday, May 3, 2011, in the chapel of Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn East Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral Home Monday evening May 2, 2011 from 7:00 to 8:30 PM.
