Obituary of Joleta Simpkins

Joleta Clydel Simpkins Joleta Clydel Simpkins, age 80, of Charlotte, NC, passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2011. She was born on July 24, 1930 in Paducah, KY, to the late Aubry Colvin and Margaret Keel Griffith. Mrs. Simpkins moved to Charlotte with her husband and children in 1961. Jo had many hobbies and interests including reading, gardening, and crafts. She was a life long quilter. Joleta loved to make quilts and give them to her family and friends as gifts. Jo loved her friends, family and her dogs dearly, and lived her life as a Christian. Mrs. Simpkins is survived by her daughter, Wegena ?Gena? Edwards of Snellenville, GA; her son, Royce C. Simpkins and his wife Sandy of Charlotte, NC; four grandchildren, Tiffany, David and his wife Aleisha, Adam and his wife Rachel, and Somer and her husband Miles; 5 great grandchildren Dakota, Kayla, Bryson, Gracie, and Skylar. In addition to her parents, Jo was preceded in death by her husband James Simpkins. Her Family will receive friends on Saturday, May 7th, 2011 at 11:30AM at Hankins & Whittington Funeral Chapel, 1111 East Blvd, Charlotte. Funeral service and interment will be held in Paducah, KY on Tuesday, May 10, 2011. Memorials in Jo?s memory may be made to any local chapter of the Humane Society.
