Obituary of Marcia Sloan

Marcia Sloan ?Bride? Marcia was born in Lancaster, South Carolina on September 17, 1928. She moved to Charlotte in 1948 where she worked as Promotion Manager for Eagle Stores. Marcia married Pete Sloan in February 1951. She served as Executive Assistant to the President of Presbyterian College where she earned her PHT ?Pushed Husband Through? degree. Upon Pete?s graduation the Sloans returned to Charlotte in 1955 where Marcia served as President of the Jaycetts, Myers Park Women?s Golf Association, Quail Hollow Women?s Golf Association, Carmel Presbyterian Women of the Church, and was also active in Charity League. Marcia lived a life of dedication, love and service to her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her brother Charles Twitty and is survived by her husband Pete Sloan, son Kip Sloan of Greenville, NC, sister Polly Smith, and sister in law Phyllis Twitty. The family expresses deep gratitude to Dr. Rose, Dr. Russ and the nurses of the progressive care unit of CMC Main. A graveside service will be held at Steele Creek Presbyterian Church at 1:30 pm on Sunday, May 15, 2011 followed by a memorial service at Carmel Presbyterian Church at 3:00 pm. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall following the memorial service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Heineman Medical Research Center, 1001 Blythe Blvd, Charlotte, NC 28203.
