Obituary of Constance Rich

Constance Vosburgh Rich ?Connie? Mrs. Rich, 82, of Charlotte, NC died Friday, July 15, 2011 at Sardis Oaks. Born in Syracuse, NY on November 29, 1928, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Baker Vosburgh. In 1935, she moved with her family to Charlotte, NC where she attended city schools. In 1951, Connie married Edwin L. Rich of Charlotte, who preceded her in death in 1990. She is survived by her son, George Bradford Rich, and his wife, Gwen and their daughter Summer Lynn of Morehead City, NC; brother, Edwin B. Vosburgh, Jr. and his wife, Eleanor, of Blowing Rock, NC; sister, Marcia V. Bowers and her husband, Tate of Charlotte, NC; four nieces; one nephew; and many great-nieces and nephews, all with whom she loved to stay in touch. Connie lived life to the fullest as she faced the challenges of Diabetes which was diagnosed at the early age of 8 years. She made friends wherever she went and especially treasured the friendships made during the past five years while residing at Sardis Oaks. Residents and their families were a special part of her life, and the many beautiful relationships formed with a loving and dedicated staff were a gift not only for Connie, but also for her family. She loved laughter, good stories, and current events. She will be remembered for always having an encouraging word to share and for caring deeply for others. For their wonderful care and concern for Connie, the family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at Sardis Oaks especially, Sanra McCrystal, N.P and Dr. Darlene Menscer. A memorial service to celebrate Connie?s life will be held at 3:00 PM, Sunday, July 17, 2011 in the chapel of Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service, 1111 East Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28203.
