Jeanne Brown

Obituary of Jeanne Brown

Jeanne Toner Kline Brown Mrs. Brown, 81, of Charlotte, NC died July 17, 2011 at Presbyterian Hospital Matthews. A native of Guilford County, NC, she was born November 14, 1929 and grew up in High Point. She graduated from High Point Central High School in 1947 and Agnes Scott College in 1951. Jeanne enjoyed varied careers in a long life of service to others, as a kindergarten teacher, pianist, organist, and church administrator for several churches. Her example of Christ-like behaviour was evident in her listening to and empathizing with all whom she came in contact with. She loved the Lord and eagerly participated in Bible studies at Matthews United Methodist Church. Her spare time, when she wasn?t talking and laughing with friends and family, was otherwise spent knitting, crocheting and singing with the Melody Makers. She enjoyed traveling, dining out, listening to music at church and concerts, reunions of all kinds and she had unconditional love for grandchildren and her great-grandson. Her family rejoices, during their grief, in the knowledge that Nanna is now at home with God her Father. Survivors include her daughters, Patti Jones and her husband, Clayton and Cindy Brown Haggard and husband Ray; grandchildren, Ashley, Meredith and TJ; great-grandson, Tegan; brothers, Lynn Griggs and Glen Griggs; and a large extended family. Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by two brothers, Dale and Johnny Griggs. Funeral service for Mrs. Brown will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at Matthews United Methodist Church with the Reverend Paul Craig and the Reverend Mick Hinson officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 PM at Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service, 1111 East Boulevard, Charlotte, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Pastor?s Discretionary Fund or the Melody Makers at Matthews United Methodist Church, 801 South Trade Street, Matthews, NC 28105
