Obituary of John Valletta

John S. Valletta Mr. Valletta, 81, of Charlotte, NC, beloved husband, father and grandfather, returned to his Lord and Savior on October 5, 2011. He was born in Stowe, PA on January 29, 1930. Mr. Valletta attended Norristown High School and was a decorated veteran of the United States Marine Corps., who served honorably during the Korean War. He is survived by his wife, Jeanette S. Valletta of Charlotte, NC; daughters Kathleen V. McBlief and her husband William, of Garner, NC, Donna V. Schmidt and her husband David Michael, of Charlotte, NC, and Annette Valletta of Greensboro, NC; granddaughter, Emily Elizabeth Schmidt of Charlotte, NC; brother, Joseph Vale and his wife Eugenia, of Gastonia, NC; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Valletta was preceded in death by his mother, Madeline Hickman. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 1400 Suther Rd., Charlotte, NC 28213. Inurnment with military honors will follow in Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury, NC. The family will receive friends in the narthex of the church for one hour prior to the mass.
