Obituary of Jack Berry

John D. Berry, Sr. ?Jack? Mr. Berry, 88, of Charlotte, NC died Friday, October 7, 2011, at Emeritus at Southpark. Jack was born in Greensboro, NC March 27, 1923, son of the late John and Margaret Leniham Berry. He was retired from the US Postal Service and was a veteran of WWII serving in the US Coast Guard. Mr. Berry was a graduate of Old Central High School and was an avid sports fan. In addition to his parents, Mr. Berry was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma in July of this year. Survivors include his daughters, Barbara ?Bobbe? Smith of Lancaster, PA and Elizabeth ?Bettie? Berry of Charlotte, NC; son, John Daniel ?Danny? Berry, Jr. of New York, NY. A memorial mass to celebrate his life will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, October 8, 2011 in the Chapel at St. Gabriel Catholic Church with Father Frank O?Rourke officiating. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011 Washington, DC 20090-6011.
