Obituary of Gladys Cavallone

Gladys Miller Porter Cavallone Mrs. Cavallone, 88, of Charlotte, NC died on October 7, 2011at Carolinas Medical Center. She was born on September 9, 1923 in Beryl, WV, a daughter of the late Arthur C. and Rosie Ellen Bishop Miller. Mrs. Cavallone was a beautiful person both inside and out who was non-judgemental and counseled many. She was very complimentary to all, a jokester, a talker who she never met a stranger and she had the memory of an elephant. Her family and friends were blessed to have her in their lives. In addition to her parents and an infant daughter, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Firmin J. Porter, Sr.; a son William A. Porter; sister, Bonnie Wright; and a brother, Allen Miller. Mrs. Cavallone the most beautiful angel is survived by her beloved husband of thirty four years, John, and their love and devotion was an inspiration to all; daughter, Carol Ann Woodell and her husband, Larry; son, Joe Porter, Jr. and his wife, Beverly; grandchildren, Rochelle Reaves, Brooke Webb, Cherie Cassels, Lori Benton, Chad Woodell, Kenneth Porter, and Bill Porter; 13 great grandchildren and sisters, Ruby Sutherland, Joan Cameron and June Smith; 2 stepsons and their families. Mass of Christian Burial will be 12:30 PM, Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at St. Ann Catholic Church, 3635 Park Rd. Charlotte, NC 28209. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum at Forest Lawn East Cemetery, Matthews, NC. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 until 7:30 PM at Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service, 1111 East Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28203. A Rosary service will follow the visitation at 7:30 PM.
