Obituary of George Karagounis

George Karagounis George Karagounis, 35, passed away early morning of October 11, 2011. George was born and raised in Charlotte, NC. He graduated from Myers Park High School in 1995, earned an Associate?s degree from Central Piedmont Community College and a Bachelor?s Degree in Architecture from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He was a well established young architect in Charlotte. George will be remembered for his sweetness and gentleman?s way and his love for his family and friends. George leaves behind his beloved parents, Panagiotis and Lambrini Karagounis, his sister, Penny Karagounis, brothers, Andy Karagounis and his wife, Michelle, Jimmy Karagounis, John Karagounis and his wife, Olga-Maria, and his two beautiful nieces that he dearly loved, Lauren and Natalie Karagounis, all of Charlotte; his beloved Godparents, Athanasios and Toula Kanellos who were very special to him. He was surrounded with love from his aunts, uncles and cousins of Charlotte and Greece. The funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, October 13, 2011 at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral with Reverend Michael Varvarelis and Reverend Philemon Patitsas officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The trisagion will be 7:00 PM Wednesday at the Cathedral.
