Obituary of Wesley Mitchell

Wesley Warren ?Wes? Mitchell, 59, of Charlotte, died Oct. 17, 2011, encircled in the loving arms of his family. Born June 27, 1952 in Leonardtown, MD, Wes was the son of David W. and Genevieve H. Mitchell. He was blessed with a true ?village experience? during his childhood and youth in Collinswood and Fairmeadows communities and in Grace United Methodist Church. He graduated from South Mecklenburg High School and attended Pfeiffer College in Misenheimer, NC. Wes loved music, good food, bad jokes and most of all, his family. He was an inspiration to those who knew him as he endured a debilitating chronic illness without complaint, being more concerned with the welfare of his friends and family. He was predeceased by paternal grandparents, Arthur and Margretha Mitchell, Connecticut and Fayetteville, NC and maternal grandparents, D. Tilden and Genevieve Honeycutt, Smithfield, NC. Survivors cherishing his life and memory include his parents, Dave and Jinny Mitchell; sisters, Sharon Mitchell Parker (Tom), Charlotte and Mary-lynn Mitchell, Davidson; brother, David T. A. Mitchell (Catherine), Charlotte; uncle, Warren Mitchell, Cleveland TN, aunt, Elizabeth ?Liz? Quinn (George), Fayetteville, NC; nieces, Emily Brexler, Lora Mitchell, Charlotte and Meredith Cinman (Pearce), Baton Rouge, LA; nephew, Mitchell Brexler, Charlotte. A memorial service honoring his life will be held Saturday Oct. 22, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Hankins and Whittington Funeral Service, 1111 East Blvd, Charlotte, NC where family will receive friends after the service. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to White Oak Manor, Presbyterian Hospital and Charlotte Hospice & Palliative Care who gave Wes their loving care and support.
