Obituary of Jimmie Finklea

Jimmie Rivers Finklea Mrs. Finklea, 80, of Charlotte, NC died Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at Presbyterian Hospital. She was born in Boone, NC on November 10, 1930, daughter of the late James Claywell Rivers and Virginia Butler Hawkins. Mrs. Finklea graduated from Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, VA. She was a very active member of Myers Park United Methodist Church where she sang in the Women?s Choir, volunteered in the church offices and worked in the Goodness Gracious Gift Shop. She also volunteered at Charlotte Latin School, Hospitality House and was a member of the Mint Museum Auxiliary. Mrs. Finklea is survived by her husband, Orion T. Finklea; three daughters, Sarah Pennacchia and her husband, Joe of Charlotte, NC, Ann Hammond and her husband, Joe of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Caroline Sullivan and her husband, Richard of Raleigh, NC; and six grandchildren, Jay and Gracie Pennacchia, Scott and Celia Hammond and Lee and Elizabeth Sullivan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Becky Rivers. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at Myers Park United Methodist Church with the Reverend Dr. James Howell officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends following the memorial service in Jubilee Hall at the church.
