Obituary of James Demopoulos

James ?Jimako? Demopoulos Mr. Demopoulos, 83, of Charlotte, NC died Friday, October 28 at Sardis Nursing Home. Born in Alepohori, Greece, on November 15, 1927 he was the son of the late George and Vasiliki Demopoulos and brother of the late Olga Gkizis of Greece. Jim moved to Charlotte in 1972 from Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada with his wife Anna and 3 children. He owned and operated what has become one of Charlotte?s most popular fast food landmarks, Zack?s Hamburgers on South Blvd. A loving husband and father, a hero to his grandchildren, a genuine friend to every person he met. Supporting his community, church and many Greek organizations through the years, his favourite was working the Greek community elections and the admissions gate at the Yiasou Greek Festival. He is lovingly remembered as ?Jimako the jokester? for always making everyone laugh and for his famous saying "Opos eipame" (like we talked about) which he used frequently as a loving salutation when leaving loved ones to assure them that everything would be fine. He will be missed by all his family and friends throughout Canada, the U.S. and Greece. James is survived by his wife of 56 years, Anna and his 3 children and their families, his daughter, Bessie Christophilakis of Markham, Ontario and her husband Peter and daughter Ana-Maria; his son, George Demopoulos of Charlotte and his wife Elaine and their children Jimmy, Chris and Zachary; his son, Zack Demopoulos of Randolph, New Jersey and his wife Phyllis and their children Demetri, Kosta and Anastasia. The Trisagion service will be held Monday, October 31, 2011, at 7:00 PM at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral. Funeral service for Mr. Demopoulos will be Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the Cathedral with interment following in Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral Foundation, 600 East Boulevard, Charlotte, NC 28203
