Mrs. Dorothy Jean Polson Mrs. Polson, age 78, died Monday, October 31, 2011 at her home in Dallas, NC. Dorothy was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Paul Franklin Polson, Sr.; son, Paul Franklin Polson, Jr.; grandson, Derek DeSean Polson; great-grand daughter, Samantha Mills; father, Felix Jiles Rice and mother Willie Virginia Deaton Rice. She is survived by four daughters, Sylvia Jones and her husband, Allen, of Lumber Bridge, NC, Elaine Malone and her husband, Jimmy, of Charlotte, Deborah Hunt and her husband, Julian, of Dallas, NC, Sandra Wise and her husband, Reverend Robert, of Lincolnton, NC; two sons, Vernon Polson and his wife, Charlene, of Lincolnton, NC and Robert Polson and his wife Pamela, of Denver, NC; twenty-one grandchildren; thirty-one great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. As a teenager, Dorothy would cook hamburgers in a drugstore counter, while Paul would drive from Dallas to Charlotte everyday, just to be able to see her. That?s how Dorothy?s personality was. People were just naturally drawn to this amazing woman. Armed with her strong faith and a tremendous heart for doing the work of the Lord, Dorothy was extremely generous, always giving to those in need, even when she didn?t have it to give. She always helped anyone out, anytime she was asked, all while raising her own family. She was the glue that held the family together and you would have to answer to her if you missed a Sunday dinner, especially when she fixed her famous turkey dressing. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. The family will receive friends from 11:00AM ? 1:00PM Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service, 1111 East Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28203.
