Obituary of Betty Smith

Betty Eller Smith Mrs. Smith, 75 of Charlotte died Thursday, November 10, 2011 at her residence. Betty was born July 15, 1936 in West Jefferson, NC, daughter of the late Kelly and Georgia Eller. Mrs. Smith was an active member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church and traveled to various parts of the country with the building team from the church. She worked for many years in marketing and was the Chief Judge for the Mecklenburg County Board of Elections for over twenty years. Betty was an avid golfer and loved clogging. She was also the Queen Mother of the Red Hat Society. Betty will be missed by her family and friends. Survivors include her husband, William Donald (Don) Smith, Sr.; son, Joey Smith; daughters, Sheri Wright and Kelly Donahue and husband, Dan; sisters, Mary Keck and Mae Kinlaw and four grandchildren, Carson, Hayes, Cooper and Montana. Graveside service for Mrs. Smith will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, November 15, 2011 in Sharon Memorial Park. A service to celebrate Betty?s life will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, November 15, 2011, at St. Andrews United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Andrews United Methodist Church Building Fund, 1900 Emerywood Dr. Charlotte, NC 28210 or Hospice and Palliative Care Charlotte Region 1420 E.
