Obituary of Wilma Smith

Wilma Jolley Smith Mrs. Smith, 81, of Charlotte, NC died at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill, SC on Thursday, December 22, 2011. Wilma was born in Cherokee County, SC, November 24, 1930, a daughter of the late Bay and Martha Micheals Jolley. She was a graduate of Fairforest High School and Robinson Business College. Mrs. Smith was employed with Charlotte Van and Storage as office manager for 30 years. She was an active member of First Baptist Church and the Fidelis Sunday School class. Wilma was a devoted homemaker and loved her family especially her grandchildren. In addition to her parents Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall Norris Smith in 2003 and four brothers, Bay Jolley, Jr., Charles Jolley, Paul Jolley and James Jolley. Survivors include her son, Mark E. Smith and his wife, Shelley of Charlotte, grand¬children Greyson, Katherine, and Landon Smith; brother, Bobby Jolley; sisters, Inez Walker and Louise Lathan and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service for Mrs. Smith will be held 2:00 PM Friday, December 23, 2011 in the Hankins & Whittington Chapel with the Reverend Dr. Mark Harris officiating. Interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to First Baptist Church, 301 South Davidson St., Charlotte, NC 28202.
