Obituary of Jack Talley

Jack Olin Talley Jack Olin Talley passed away peacefully Friday, January 13, 2012 with his family by his side. A Charlotte resident for most of his life, Jack was born in Greensboro, NC on March 16, 1930, the only child of the late Claude and Helen Talley. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, David Morgan Talley. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 59 years, Carolyn Morgan Talley, his daughter, Lisa Talley and her children Cassie and Charlie Laughlin of Greensboro, NC, his daughter, Chris Smith and her husband, Darryl and their children Elizabeth and Grace of Advance, NC, his daughter-in-law, Caroline Scott Talley and his grandson Worth Talley of Atlanta, GA, and his sisters-in-law, Maxine Morgan Huggins and Frieda Morgan Patterson and many Morgan nieces and nephews. A 1949 graduate of Thomasboro High School in Charlotte, NC, Jack went on to serve in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Jack was a proud Tiger graduating from Clemson University in 1957. He spent his career in the insurance industry and was a lifelong learner. During his retirement years, he enjoyed taking advanced math classes at the community college and volunteering at the court house. Jack was especially fond of his canine friends many of whom were the lucky recipients of his doting and affection throughout his entire life. The family would like to thank the staff of Clare Bridge at The Carriage Club and Hospice and Palliative Care Charlotte Region for their loving kindness and superior care over the last 18 months. A service to celebrate the life of Jack Talley will be held at 3:00 PM, Monday, January 16, 2012 in the chapel of Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service, 1111 East Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28203. Interment is private. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service. In appreciation of their patience and faithfulness which allowed Jack to remain in his home environment for as long as possible, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Shining Stars Alzheimer's Respite Care at 1844 Sterling Road, Charlotte, NC 28209.
