Obituary of Francis Terry

Francis Kenneth Terry Mr. Terry, born January 27, 1925 and passed January 13, 2012 at Liberty Nursing Home. Born in Union County, Francis served his family and country well. After serving in the Navy as a machinist mate in World War II, he settled in Charlotte where he was an electrician his whole career. Francis helped build Charlotte into what it is today. He is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Hood Terry and his parents, John Calvin and Bertha Smith Terry. Mr. Terry is survived by his three sons, Francis K. Terry II, John R. Terry and his wife, Juanita Gurley, Edward D. Terry and his wife, Donna; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Peggy Jacqueline Hilton and JoAn Vincent. He always worked hard and was dedicated to his family and community. He was an active member of American Legion Post 262 for over 50 years, and was a member of Derita Masonic Lodge #715 as a Master Mason for over 30 years. Francis touched many lives and will be missed. He definitely made a difference to the people who knew him. Funeral service with Masonic Rites will be at 5:00 PM Tuesday, January 17, 2012 in the chapel of Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service, 1111 East Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28203. Interment is private. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday for one hour prior to the service. Memorials maya be made to the Masonic House for Children at Oxford, 600 College Street, Oxford, NC 27565.
