-- View a Video -- Margaret King Margaret McArthur King Mrs. King, 65, of Charlotte, NC, died Friday, January 20, 2012, at Levine & Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville, NC after a nine month battle with cancer. She was born March 4, 1946 in Greenville, NC, daughter of the late James Robert McArthur and Frances Dilda McArthur. Margaret grew up in Clearwater, Florida Margaret graduated from Florida State University and taught second grade for a short time before going to Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. After graduation from Southwestern she served as Children?s Minister at First Baptist Church, Hattiesburg, MS. She also served as a consultant for Lifeway in Nashville, TN. Her last staff position prior to retirement was Minister to Pre-School families at First Baptist Church, Charlotte, NC. In addition to her husband, Martin King, she is survived by a step-son Eric King and his wife, Shauna and their children of Rolesville, NC and a step-daughter, Michelle Hait and her husband, Brian of Indonesia. Margaret is also survived by a brother, Gil McArthur and his wife Mary Ann of Clearwater, FL. Other family members include nephews James McArthur of Clearwater, David McArthur of Atlanta, Dean Kruger of Jacksonville, FL, and nieces Elizabeth Whiteley of Tampa, Liza Johnson of Wilmington, NC, and Celeste Kruger of Greensboro, NC. The delights of Margaret?s life were her six grandchildren. Grandma Maggie enjoyed baking cakes, shopping for clothes, reading books to them, and just hanging out with Andrew, Megan, Abigail, Jason, Katherine, and Anna. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, January 26, 2012 in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church of Charlotte. The family will receive friends following the service in the Fellowship Hall. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to Pregnancy Resource Center, 1505 E.
