Obituary of Larry Buckley

Larry Logan Buckley was born on August 24, 1947 in Chicago, Illinois. He died peacefully at home on May 22, 2017. Larry was a loving husband that enjoyed his family, sons, and his grandchildren. He enjoyed sports. His team won the American Legion World Series in 1965. He was a United States Army Veteran who served 2 and a half tours in Vietnam. Late in his life, Larry learned to play guitar from his brother-in-law, the late Jim Oakley. He is preceded in death by his parents, Larry and Dottie Buckley; and brother, Randy Buckley. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Kathy Oakley Buckley; sons, Matthew (Jenny) Buckley of Raleigh, NC and Eddie (Cindy) Buckley of Fayetteville, NC; grandchildren, Skylar, Riley, Jayse, and Collin; brothers, Robin Buckley and Mike (Nan) Buckley; and niece, Elizabeth Buckley. A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted on Friday, May 26, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Central Church, 5301 Sardis Road Charlotte, NC 28270.
