Obituary of Jennifer Hunt

Jennifer Andrea Hunt, 25, of Charlotte, NC, formerly of Haddonfield, NJ and Philadelphia, PA died peacefully at home on February 27, 2012. Jennifer was born on October 11, 1986, in Philadelphia, PA, the second of four children. Jennifer was an active, loving and special person that touched and transformed her family's lives and the lives of all of those she knew. She competed in the Special Olympics, was a JCC Kindercamp junior counselor. Jennifer also sang in the Temple Emanuel youth choir, played the piano, cooked and enjoyed many sports, including karate, basketball, swimming, soccer, skiing and dance. A highlight for her and her family was her bat mitzvah on March 24, 2001, where she read from the Torah in Hebrew and wrote and delivered a wonderful and witty speech. She was a graduate of Metro School in Charlotte. Surviving are her parents, Janet B. Hunt and H. Thomas Hunt of Charlotte, NC; sisters, Emily B. Hunt of NY, NY, Stephanie J. Hunt of Bethlehem, PA and Allison C. Hunt of Charlotte, NC, and her maternal grandmother, Roslyn Berney of Charlotte, NC, formerly of White Plains, NY. She is preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Henry D. Berney, her paternal grandfather, Dr. Samuel P. Hunt and her paternal grandmother, Caroline C. Hunt. Her funeral service was held February 29, 2012 at Temple Beth El with interment following in the Hebrew Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to Temple Beth El, 5101 Providence Rd, Charlotte NC 28226, designating the Jennifer Andrea Hunt Tikvah Charlotte Fund for your contribution. This fund will provide financial assistance for the religious education of special needs students with the priority being bar mitzvah and bat mitzvah preparation.
