Obituary of Katherine Kempf

Katherine Sing Kempf Mrs. Kempf, 86, a native Charlottean died Saturday, March 3, 2012, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC. She was born March 17, 1925 a daughter of the late Dwight K. and Mary Fetner Sing. Katherine attended Brenau University in Atlanta and was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority. Katherine married her late husband, Louis J. Kempf and they raised their family in Charlotte, NC. After raising their seven children, Katherine was a bridal consultant with Ivey?s department store for many years. She then enjoyed time with her husband, family and also loved traveling and spending time at the family vacation home at Crescent Beach, SC. She moved to the Carriage Club in 2008, where she met new friends and rekindled old friendships. In addition to her parents and husband, Katherine was preceded in death by her son-in-law, John M. Blackwell; granddaughter, Austin Elizabeth Kluttz and sister, Lucy Sing Baker. Surviving are her children, Dwight Kempf and wife, Mary of Charlotte, NC, Louis Kempf and wife, Melissa of Waxhaw, NC, Kathy Blackwell Giuliani and husband Pete of Ft. Worth, TX, Laura Kirby and husband Bobby of Charlotte, NC, Buddy Kempf and wife, Laura of Char¬lotte, NC, Bob Kempf and wife Susan of Weddington, NC, and Beth Kluttz and hus¬band Billy of Concord, NC; sister, Mary Sing Chisholm of Charlotte, NC; grandchil¬dren, Erin Gordon and husband, Christian, Lou Kempf and wife Beth, Parks Blackwell, Kevin and Brad Kirby, John, Jaclyn and Julia Kempf, Lauren and Will Kempf, Clinton and Addison Kluttz; great grandchildren Ryan Elizabeth Gordon, Katherine Elizabeth Kempf and Louis Joseph Kempf, IV. A Mass will be held 1:30 PM Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at St. Gabriel?s Catholic Church. Inurnment in the Columbarium will follow the service. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to The WARM Place a grief support center for children, 809 Lipscomb St, Forth Worth, TX 76104.
