Obituary of Eftihia Anastasi

Eftihia Taki Anastasi Mrs. Anastasi, 91, of Charlotte, NC died Monday, March 12, 2012 at Carolinas Medical Center Pineville. She was born on March 17, 1920 and grew up in Saint Demetrios, Evrytania, Greece, daughter of the late Dimitrios and Olga Siafakas Taki. She married Christos Anastasi from a neighboring village and was happily married for six year until his untimely death during the Greek Civil War. With a great deal of stoic strength and determination and her belief in God , Christ and the Saints she was able to lovingly raise her children despite the poverty of their circumstances. Not only did she devote her life to her children but also remained devoted to the memory of her husband and never re-married. Later on in life she extended her devotions to helping with the care and raising of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Anastasi was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, an avid gardener and loved to read. She was a passionate supporter of many philanthropic organizations, most notably orphanages, monasteries and other church related institutions. Mrs. Anastasi is survived by her son, Dimitrios Anastasis and his wife, Margarita of Athens, Greece; daughter, Christina Katsanos and her husband, George of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Christos Anastasis, Vasilios, Eftihia, and Christos Katsanos, Fotini Katsanos-Amon and her husband, Rocky; great-grandchildren, Christina Katsanos and Leonidas Amon; and a sister, Nikki Mouhaki of Macedonia, Greece as well as many nieces, nephews and relatives. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Anastasi was preceded in death by three sisters, Polytime Riga, Magdalene Taki and Vasiliki Papadopoulo, and a brother Father Constantinos Taki. Funeral service for Mrs. Anastasi will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral with the Reverend Michael Varvarelis and the Reverend Philemon Patitsas officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The Trisagion will be Tuesday evening March 13, 2012 at 7:00 PM at the Cathedral.
