Obituary of Douglas Wood

Douglas John Wood Mr. Wood, 88, of Fort Mill, SC formerly of Charlotte, NC died Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House in Rock Hill, SC. Mr. Wood was born January 31, 1924, in Wales, England, son of the late David and Martha Walters Wood. Douglas was a US Army Veteran of WW II and the Korean War. He was retired from Southeastern Electronic as a sales manager and was a member of the Shriners. He was an active member of Hickory Grove Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder in the church. Mr. Wood was devoted to his family and was known as ?Gramps? to his grandchildren. In addition to his parents Douglas was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel in 2004. Survivors include his sons, Robert David Wood and his wife, Claudia and Kevin Douglas Wood and wife, Debbie; grandchildren Kelly Gordon and husband, Timmy, David John Wood and Kristine Hoff and husband, Robert and great-grandchildren, Austin, Katlyn, Tyler Douglas and Annabella. The family will receive friends Thursday evening, March 29, 2012 from 7:00 to 8:30 PM at Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service. A graveside service will be held 2:30 PM Friday, March 30, 2012 in Sharon Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House, 2275 India Hook Rd., Rock Hill, SC 29732.
