Obituary of Lib Greene

Elizabeth Mattox Greene ?Lib? Mrs. Greene, 80, of Charlotte, NC went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 2, 2012. She was born on August 20, 1931, in Monroe, NC, daughter of the late Zebulon and Minnie Mattox. Mrs. Greene will be lovingly remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She always enjoyed gardening and her beautiful flowers. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Greene was preceded in death by her brothers, Joe Mattox, Orman Mattox and John Ralph Mattox; and her sister, Virginia Blackwell. She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Morris Carl Greene, Sr.; her four children, Morris Carl Greene, Jr. and his wife, Sherry, of Indian Trail, NC, Timothy E. Greene and his wife, Sharon of Charlotte, Jayne G. Sharpe and her husband, Greg of Advance, NC, and James M. Greene and his wife, Sandi of Charlotte, NC; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; her sister, Sara Allison of Charlotte, NC; and her brother, Tom Mattox of Charlotte, NC. The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to her loving caregivers, Miss Dot, Vera and Debra. Flowers will be graciously accepted, however, contributions to the Alzheimer?s Association, 3800 Shamrock Drive, Box 999, Charlotte, NC 28215 would be appreciated. A funeral service will be at 11:00 AM, Thursday, April 5, 2012 in the chapel of Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service, 1111 East Blvd., Charlotte, NC, 28203 with her grandson, Pastor Josh Greene, officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn West Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service.
