Frank D.E. Goering
Mr. Goering, 81, of Charlotte died Sunday, May 27, 2012, in the Harris Hospice Unit at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, NC.
He was born October 14, 1930, in Chemnitz, Germany, son of the late Dr. Karl and Edith Brauer Goering.
Frank was a US Army veteran, serving in the 3rd Infantry Division. Upon completion of his military service he was employed by BASF and later at American Savio Corporation, where was employed for 20 years until his retirement in 1993. Following his retirement Mr. Goering worked part time for Hertz Rental Car as a vehicle transporter. He was an active member of St. Luke?s Lutheran Church and enjoyed traveling, music and swimming.
In addition to his parents Mr. Goering was preceded in death by his wife, Ingeborg M.A. Goering and his brother, Wolfgang K. A. Goering.
Survivors include his son, Mr. Norman Goering, daughter in law, Mrs. Donna Goering, granddaughter, Miss Spencer Goering of Fletcher, NC and his grandson, Captain Matthew Goering, USAF, Oklahoma City, OK. And long time friend, Alice Haddox of Fort Lawn, SC.
Funeral service for Mr. Goering will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, June 2, 2012, at St. Luke?s Lutheran Church. Interment with military honors will follow in Charlotte Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday evening June 1, 2012 from 7:00 to 8:30 PM at Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service.
