Dear Alice, Brent, Mary, Henry & Family: Life is a wonderful gift from God. To add to our joy of living, he also gave us the gift of music; not only to render praise and thanksgiving to him but to express our emotions. John?s passion for music and cycling surely enriched his life. The Bible describes a time in the future when all mankind will not be subject to criminals, violence, sickness, accidents and death. (Micah 4:4; Revelation 21:3, 4) Additionally, it is Jehovah God?s purpose to restore the dead to life by means of a resurrection to a paradise earth. Jesus said: ?The hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out.? (John 5:28, 29) Until that day comes, lean on God to cope with your separation from John and to get comfort in all our tribulation. He is called the Father of tender mercies and the God of all comfort and he cares for you. (2 Corinthians 1:3, 4; 1 Peter 5:7) May these words bring you solace, delight and help you cling to a measure of happiness and joy from your fond memories of John.

I had the pleasure of hearing John play a number of times with the Charlotte Waites here in Atlanta during a Midwinter Music workshop. His interest in all kinds of unusual instruments and talent made him a pleasure to work with. We will miss him greatly in the music community.

How sorry I was to learn of John's death. My father, Edward "Eddie" Marks loved John and John loved him -their relationship went far beyond the working one at Stewart & Everett. John was a faithful friend to my father during his last days. I have no doubts that they are both talking and talking and talking, delighted to be in each other's company once again. My sympathies to the family of John.

Lengthy message seems to have been lost. Will try to reconstruct. I told of John's intense interest in my happy memories of his entire family, dating back to worship with grandparents, parents and having introduced his Mother and Father to each other. My loss is acute and that of his family and Covenant Church (where I'm sending a memorial gift) is vast. John truly was a dedicated servant to his and our Lord.

I first met John when I was 16 and he played with my mother's band, Magpye. John was a truly remarkable musician and a kind, wonderful human being. He will be very missed.

Alice, Brent, Mary and Henry,We were all so sorry to hear of John's passing. He was such a vital man and loving brother and I know how much you all are going to miss him. Let me express our deepest sorrow at you loss and we want you to know our entire family grieves with you and are keeping you in our thoughts and prayers. On a personal note, I know how such a loss devastates your soul. After eight years, I still find it hard to face the fact that Jonathan is gone, but I can remember him with joy and comfort. Joy in remembering all the wonderful things about him and comfort in knowing that he is in a better place, and I will be with him again. Hang on to your good memories of John and know that you will be with him again. With all my love,Calla
