Obituary of Alice Haskin

Mrs. Haskin passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 10, 2012, surrounded by family. Alice was born February 18, 1921, in St. Louis, MO, to William and Viola (Thomas) von Trilsch. She was a longtime resident of Charlotte and was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 43 years, H.W. ?Bert? Haskin, her loving son, Herbert ?Buster? Winslow Haskin, Jr., parents, younger brother, in-laws, and great-grandson. Survivors include her daughter, Iris ?Janet? and her beloved ?number one? daughter-in-law, Peggy, granddaughters and great grandchildren. Alice was dearly loved by all that had the pleasure to meet her and was a fantastic teacher, talker and history buff. She graduated from Berryhill High School (Charlotte) in 1938 and worked at the Charlotte United Rubber Co. loading bullets in support of our troops while her husband bravely fought as a gunner in the army during WWII. When the troops returned, Alice continued to work, excelling at life insurance sales until she lost her hearing. She later worked for 15+ years at Lance until her retirement. Alice & Bert loved fishing and she was talented in pottery, sewing, gardening, and sharing her love of God and fellowship at Southside Baptist Church, where she was an original member from the age of six. The family would like to thank all the medical staff that cared for Alice in her final days including Presbyterian & Mercy Hospitals and the Levine & Dickson Hospice House of Huntersville. An endearing thanks to Pastor Steve Kelly for his compassion and true love for Alice and the family.
