Obituary of Patricia Brown

Pat passed away on June 21, 2012. She grew up in West Columbia/Cayce, SC and spent her adult life in Charlotte, NC. She is predeceased by her parents, Frank & Lessie Mae Wilson and her brother, Lee Wilson. She is survived by her husband, Ron Brown; two daughters, Sharon Bolarakis and her husband Mihail ?Mike?, and Vicki Reynolds; four grandchildren, Stephanie & Jennifer Stripling, Colin & Chase Black; two great-grandchildren, Cilena Stripling & Jaxon Black. She also leaves behind 3 siblings; 5 nieces & nephews; and numerous extended family members. She was a member of Candlewyck Baptist Church. Pat was a woman worth celebrating. She loved her husband of 55 years, raised her daughters to be strong, confident, independent women, and protected her grandchildren and great-granddaughter as fiercely as any mother hen. She dedicated her life to taking care of others, protecting the ones she loved, and creating a home that enveloped all its visitors in comfort. Pat single-handedly brought the 12-step program, Emotions Anonymous (EA), to the Charlotte region in 1983 and has been dedicated to working the Program ? as well as helping others improve their own lives ? for the past 29 years. Pat firmly believed that we did not have to accept our circumstances; she lived the life she wanted. Pat changed her fate, she lived each day to its fullest, and she refused to live in regret. The decisions she made to embrace each moment and to stand up for herself, her sanity and her own happiness were passed down to her children and grandchildren ? they intend to carry her legacy of love for generations to come. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 25, 2012, at 1:00 pm at Hankins & Whittington Funeral Home, 1111 East Blvd, Charlotte, NC 28203, with Pastor Bill Chinnis officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm at the funeral home. A private family burial will take place in Southland Memorial Gardens in West Columbia, SC.
