Obituary of Joanne Bonestell

Joanne M. Bonestell left this world on July 5, 2012 on her journey to God?s heavenly kingdom where she will be free from affliction and enjoy the rewards of her good life on Earth. She died peacefully surrounded by her family at Courtland Terrace Nursing Home. Joanne was born on December 31, 1937 in Binghamton, NY, the first daughter of Helen and J. Elmer Crowley. She graduated from Syracuse University in June 1960 and married John Bonestell on August 20, 1960. She was a homemaker while their two daughters, Terri and Cindy, were growing up and then became a respected realtor with Mary Ryder until she retired in 2004. In addition to her husband, Joanne is survived by her daughter, Terri Marxen and her husband, David and their two children, Lindsey and Dana as well as her other daughter, Cindy Kincaid and her two children, Erika and Blake Kincaid. In addition to Joanne?s immediate family, she leaves behind her younger siblings, Kathleen Klepfer, Andrew Crowley and Robert Crowley, all living in upstate New York. A visitation to celebrate Joanne?s life will be held on Monday, July 9 at Hankins & Whittington Funeral Home, 1111 East Blvd, Charlotte, NC 28203, beginning at 6:30 PM, followed by a short church service at their chapel at 8:00 PM. She will be interred at the Bonestell family plot in Kingston, NY, later in the week. The family wants to thank an angel, Jeanette Lippmann, who came into Joanne?s life last year and helped care for Joanne while she battled the advances of dementia and Parkinson?s disease. Jeanette?s dedication to Joanne was well beyond expectation and enabled Joanne to remain at home until she broke her hip in May and had to go to the nursing home. The family also acknowledges the wonderful care Joanne received during her short stay at Courtland Terrace Nursing Home in Gastonia. The staff was very caring, professional and supportive in every way. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Parkinson Association of the Carolinas, 5970 Fairview Rd, Charlotte, NC 28210, in Joanne?s name.
