Obituary of Ronald Wilcox

Ronald Elvin Wilcox Mr. Wilcox, 68, of Monroe, NC died on July 10, 2012. He was born March 10, 1944 in Port Huron, Michigan, son of Elvin and Maxine Frye Wilcox. Mr. Wilcox graduated from Port Huron High School in 1962 and married Carolyn Louise Maguire on June 13, 1964. Mr. Wilcox worked at GM plant in Flint Michigan from 1963 until drafted to the US Army in 1966. He was stationed at Fort Knox, Kentucky from 1966 to 1968 and received a commendation for exemplary service as a military legal clerk. After being discharged in 1968, he moved back to Port Huron, Michigan and got a job with UPS and lived in Wilcox family farm house. In 1971 he moved to Battle Creek, Michigan and worked for United Steel and Wire for a brief time and then for American Fire Apparatus in 1972. He then started working for Kellogg?s Cereal Company in 1973 until he retired in December of 1999. Ron entered the ministry and pastored various churches from 1975 until he and Carolyn became independent missionaries to Kenya, Africa in 2001. Ron and Carolyn moved their ministry base to Monroe, NC in 2004 and have been serving the people of Kitale Kenya both from states side and yearly trips ever since. In addition to his wife, Carolyn, Mr. Wilcox is survived by his children; Rodney Wayne Wilcox and his wife, Vicki, Carla Ruth Jasper and her husband, Jim, Cheryl Lynn Vought and her husband, Chad, Richard Elvin Wilcox and his wife, Christi, grandchildren, Brandon Wilcox, Alex, Cynthia and Madison Jasper, Baylee Vought and Jack and Sam Wilcox. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 15, 2012 at 3:00 PM at Sharon Baptist Church, 6411 Sharon Road, Charlotte, NC with Pastor Robbie Page officiating.
