Obituary of Gilda Brissie

Mrs. Gilda White Brissie, 83, of Charlotte, passed away Sunday, July 15, 2012, at Levine & Dickson Hospice House. Gilda was born January 10, 1929, in Taunton, Massachusetts before relocating to Charlotte to complete high school. She was one of the eight children of the late William Lee White and Beulah Skidmore White. She graduated from the old Harding High School. Gilda was employed by Allstate Insurance Co. for over 30 years and was the first woman claims adjuster in the southeast U.S. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Gilda will be remembered with much love. Gilda is survived by her daughter, Marsha Brissie Gross and her husband, Rick Gross of Clover, SC, Lynn Brissie Locke and her husband, James Locke of Charlotte; six grandchildren, Sean (Sabrina) Locke, Chris Locke, Jamie Locke, Ryan Bean, Melissa (Phillip) Knox and Blaine Gross, all of Charlotte; three great-grandchildren, Andrew Locke, Lorelei Teeter and George Knox of Charlotte. She is also survived by brothers, James White of Burlington, NC, Gerald White and his wife, Nancy; sister, Carolyn Grolman of Florida; sister-in-law, Alice White; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 49 years, William Thomas Brissie; siblings, Harold White, Evelyn Black, Louise Campbell and Richard Clay White. A graveside service will be held Thursday, July 19, 2012, at 10:00 am at Sharon Memorial Park, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC 28212. Remembrance services will follow interment at 12:00 pm at Hankins & Whittington Chapel, 1111 East Boulevard, Charlotte, NC 28203, with Pastor Richard H. Runge officiating. Music will be provided by Speranza Trio ? Mary Sinski, Alicia Bowen and Marsha Gross. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to Levine & Dickson Hospice House of Huntersville, 11900 Vanstory Drive, Huntersville, NC 28078.
