Obituary of Grace Gunter

GRACE LOUISE GUNTER Grace Gunter passed away peacefully on Monday, July 16, 2012 at Sharon Towers, Charlotte, North Carolina. Grace was born on February 15, 1925 in Lexington County, South Carolina, the daughter of Grovie and D.D. Hayes. Grace was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and caring friend to many. She lived her life with a dignity and kindness befitting her name. She will be missed by all who knew her. Grace was predeceased by her parents, husband Hugh D. Gunter, sister Helen Hurd, brother Hugh B. Hayes and grandson John Barrett Gunter. She is survived by her two sons, Dorian H. Gunter and wife Peggy of Charlotte, and Hugh D. Gunter, Jr. of Lauderdale Lakes, Florida; granddaughter Page Gunter Rosenbaum and husband Paul Rosenbaum of Ventura, California; great granddaughter Dylan Rosenbaum; sister Juanita Herndon of Deland, Florida; brother Jack Hayes and wife Racheal of Valdosta, Georgia; and niece Patra Petrea and husband Michael of Deland, Florida. She is also survived by her many loving and caring friends at Olde Georgetown. A memorial service will be held in the Hankins & Whittington Chapel, 1111 East Boulevard, Charlotte, North Carolina at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 18, 2012. The family will receive friends at the funeral home immediately following the service. A graveside service and interment will follow on Thursday, July 19, 2012 in the family lot at St. Peter?s Lutheran Church Cemetery, 1130 Saint Peter?s Road, Lexington, South Carolina. The family expresses its heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Alan Thomley and the staff at the Sanger Clinic for their wonderful care and attention to Grace. Grace?s family also is grateful to the staff at Sardis Oaks, Sharon Towers and Hospice of Charlotte for their kindness and care.
