Obituary of Kathleen Townsend

Kathleen ?KayKay? Green Townsend, 61, of Charlotte, died Sunday, July 29, 2012, at home. A memorial service will be held Friday, August 3, 2012, at 1:00 pm at Hankins & Whittington Funeral Services, 1111 East Boulevard, Charlotte, NC 28210. Memorials may be directed to Metrolina Association for the Blind, 704 Louise Avenue, Charlotte, NC 28204, Friends of Feral Felines, www.friendsofferalfelines.org, or the Humane Society, 2700 Toomey Avenue, Charlotte, NC 28203. KayKay was born May 24, 1951, in Lowell, MA, the daughter of William Richard Green, MD and Kathleen Teresa Sullivan. She worked from 1978 to 2012 as a Master Certified Vision Rehabilitation Therapist for the Metrolina Association for the Blind and is honored on the Wall of Tribute at the American Printing House for the Blind for Leaders and Legends of the Blindness Field. KayKay raised guide dogs and loved cats, the beach, lighthouses and Plum Island, MA. She is survived by her daughter, Kristin Townsend of Charlotte, NC; sisters, Lee Warren of Stow, MA and Connie Ryan of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; brothers, Garrett Green of Boxboro, MA and William Green of Lowell, MA; as well as wonderful nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
