Obituary of Thomas Fletcher

Thomas James Fletcher Jr. Thomas James Fletcher Jr., 89, of Charlotte, NC died Monday, August 20, 2012 at Presbyterian Hospital. A Charlotte native, Mr. Fletcher was born March 17, 1923, son of the late Thomas James Fletcher Sr. and Mildred Collins Fletcher. He attended Wake Forest College and served in the US Army during World War II in southern Africa and Italy. Mr. Fletcher was a magistrate in Mecklenburg County for fourteen years and later retired from First Union Bank. He was a former member of the Sharon Civitan Club and volunteered at Revolution Golf Course. A lifelong member of First Baptist Church, Mr. Fletcher taught Sunday school for many years and was a member of the W.J. Smith Sunday School Class. Mr. Fletcher is survived by his wife of 62 years, Bobbie Walker Fletcher; son, Thomas Michael Fletcher of Orlando, Florida; daughter, Carol Josey and her husband, Lawson L. of Pineville, NC; two grandsons, Joseph Lawson Josey of Dayton, Ohio and Michael James Josey of Toledo, Ohio; granddaughter, Michelle Fletcher of Orlando, Florida; and four great-grandchildren. A service from the graveside will be held at 3:00 PM Thursday, August 23, 2012 in Sharon Memorial Park with the Reverend Dr. Mark Harris officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7:00 until 8:30 PM at Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service, 1111 East Blvd, Charlotte. Memorials may be sent to First Baptist Church, 301 S.
