Obituary of Willene Camp

Willene Campbell Camp Mrs. Camp, 88, of Charlotte, NC passed away September 20, 2012. Willene, a native Charlottean, was born August 13, 1924. She was the oldest of two daughters of Ted Campbell and Sadie Leona Cathey Campbell. Mrs. Camp was a graduate of the class of 1941 of Paw Creek High School and attended Flora MacDonald College in Red Springs, N.C. She accepted a position with The Kendall Company in Paw Creek in June 1942 where she met her future husband, Elmore H. Camp. She also worked for Mill Power Supply Company and retired from J. B. Ivey Company in September, 1989. Her greatest gift was her detailed memory and ease of conversation. Her proudest accomplishment was her family, where laughter was the central theme of all family gatherings. A lifelong Presbyterian, Willene was a member first of Paw Creek Presbyterian Church, later Avondale Presbyterian Church, and an active member of Circle #5. She was married to her late husband, Elmore, for 60 years. She is survived by her two sons, Ted H. Camp and his fiancée Belinda Buzzerio of Apex, NC, John H. Camp and his wife Betsy; granddaughters, Krista Camp and Allison Camp of Media, PA and one sister Harriet Campbell Underwood and her husband Ralph of Charlotte, NC. A service to celebrate her life will be held 11:00 AM Friday, September 28, 2012, at Avondale Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends following the service in the Church Fellowship Hall. Flowers may be coordinated through the Blossom Shop, 2242 Park Road or memorials may be made in Willene?s honor to Avondale Presbyterian Church, 2821 Park Rd., Charlotte, NC 28209.
