So sorry to hear about Dr Lockhart's passing. I worked with him from 1976-1984 on unit 7-3. He was a brilliant man and surgeon. I will never forget him reminding me that I either knew or didn't know the answer to a queston no guessing. I know you will miss hm

It has many years since 3 young munchins slid through the doggie door of our back porch to play with the pups and to pick out one, Rounder, that would enrich their lives. The Lockhart family - the distinguished and compassionate Dad, the cheerful and feisty Mom, and 3 young ones that I babysat so many times occupy a precious spot in my heart. I was at church (Park View)yesterday, with my parents, when we heard about your loss. There were smiles and memories as Bobby Wilson reminded us of the Sunday mornings when your Dad would come to church and try to get through the service before his beeper sounded to call him to the hospital. It simply broke our hearts as it rekindled memories and nostalgia of those incredibly "good old days". We, with you, mourn your loss and want you to know that there are those of us in lots of places who treasure your place in our lives. We were going to try to bring Mom and Dad to the service, but, at 94 and 91, they are just too frail for even that journey. Please accept our condolences and love across the miles. Sandy "Thomas" and her parents, Albert and Thelma Thomas

I'm so sorry to hear about the passing of Dr. Lockhart. My mother nursed for him while he was at Watts Hospital and often spoke fondly of him, and I know the family because Walter III was my teacher for 3 years at St. Mary's Country Day School. Walter, William and Patricia, please accept my condolences.

I worked with Dr Lockhart for 13 yrs at Watts and Durham Regional Hospitals. I was and am still a vascular radiologic technoligist. Dr Lockhart was an extremely thorough and considerate physician who I admired very much. We built a great relationship with good professional communication skills. I will never forget his comments on every arteriogram we performed while he was present. After the injection of contrast in the arteries he would ask the patient to "Squeeze my right hand with your left hand". It was a ritual every time. He was the only physician that would take time out of his busy schedule to actually be with the patient during a procedure he played no surgical or technical part in. I am deeply saddened on your loss and wanted to share my sincere thoughts and prayers with the family.

I knew Dr and Mrs Lockhart from Park View Baptist then later I was a nurse on 7-3 at Durham Regional. Simply put, he was the cream of the crop among people. I cannot say enough good things about him. I know he and Doreen are having a wonderful time in the presence of the Lord and God whom they honored and served so well on this earth. May God richly bless and comfort all of his family.

Walter/Sarah, I have missed your Mom and Dad since they left Durham. He operated on me 4 times. How lucky I was to have been part of that practice. You "Two" baby sat for us when you were at St. Mary's. I have been a widow for 8 years. Love is with you, Sarah Alle
