Obituary of Betty Clark Dickinson

Betty Daphne Clark Dickinson Mrs.Dickinson,86, passed away on September 24, 2012, in Charlotte, NC. She was born in Asheville, NC on November 29, 1925, daughter of the late Bill and Grace Clark. Music was Betty?s great love and her family will always treasure the memory of her sitting at her old piano playing and singing all the old standard hymns. As a young woman, she was pianist for a gospel quartet in the Asheville area and served as church pianist for Biltmore Baptist Church and Derita Baptist Church, where she was a long-time member. Betty retired after many years from Associated Grocers Mutual in Charlotte as the Advertising Manager. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of nearly 63 years, Fred Dickinson and brothers, James Alan and W. Don Clark. Betty is survived by her daughters, Jan Hunsucker and husband, Larry, of Concord, NC and Anita Blanchett and husband, Clyde, of York, SC. She also leaves 3 grandchildren, Chris (Ashley) Hunsucker of Stanfield, NC; Emily (Neil) Smith of Albemarle, NC; and Sam (Candi) DeWitt of Cornelius, NC and 5 great-grandchildren: Jami, Kyrsten, Ben, Kaylee and Kennedy. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region, 1420 East 7th Street, Charlotte, NC 28204. The family will receive friends on Wednesday afternoon, September 26, 2012 from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service. There will be a private graveside service for the family immediately following visitation.
